DesignLights™ Consortium Mission

The mission of the DesignLights™ Consortium is to:

1. Educate owners, developers, electrical contractors, designers, and others that influence lighting design, specification, selection, and installation practices.
2. Promote the concept that thoughtful, lower density lighting can be superior to traditional lighting practices, many of which took hold in the days before extensive use of personal computers in the workplace.
3. Encourage thoughtful design of lighting in a variety of commercial spaces that are of the highest quality from the standpoint of comfort, productivity, aesthetics, and energy efficiency.
4. Develop and integrate useful tools for those who influence design, specification, selection, and installation of lighting systems.

In order to achieve our goals, the DLC first gains a better understanding of the market and then disseminates this information through educational materials, workshops, and forums.
