Lumen Maintenance

V5.1 updates to the Lumen Maintenance requirements are effective for all applications submitted under V5.1 beginning July 1, 2020. For full details on the V5.1 Lumen Maintenance requirements, please refer to the “V5.1 Additional Reporting Requirements for LM-79, LM-80, and TM-21 Reports” in the V5.1 Technical Requirements.

The DLC has two options for demonstrating lumen maintenance compliance. Select one of the two options and submit all of its corresponding required documents listed below. For more information regarding lumen maintenance, please see the Technical Requirements Table.

  • Lumen Maintenance Option 1
Using component-level performance through the TM-21 protocols, which leverage the LM-80 performance and in-situ temperature of the LED device.
  • Lumen Maintenance Option 2
Using luminaire-level performance through TM-28 protocols, which leverage the LM-84 test performance.

Option 1

  • IES LM-80-08 test report
    • Note: Manufacturers are expected to provide the most recent LM-80 report available for the LED package/module/array used in the product
    • Schematic/photograph from LED package/module/array manufacturer that shows the specified temperature measurement point (TMP), if not included in the LM-80
  • In-situ temperature measurement test (ISTMT) report
    • Photograph of temperature measurement point (i.e. attached thermocouple) showing that the temperature is measured at the TMP specified by the LED package/module/array manufacturer
  • Saved copy of the completed ENERGY STAR TM-21 worksheet (Excel file format), available for download here.

Option 2

  • LM-84-14  test report
  • Saved copy of the completed ENERGY STAR TM-28 worksheet (Excel file format), available for download here.
  • LM-80-08 test report for the LED package/module/array if using Combined Extrapolation approach per TM-28
    • Note: Manufacturers are expected to provide the most recent LM-80 report available for the LED package/module/array used in the product
  • ENERGY STAR TM-21 worksheet (Excel file format) if using Combined Extrapolation approach per TM-28
