Testing and Reporting Requirements
Some DLC product categories require additional test data or supporting documentation to ensure the submitted product meets the Technical Requirements. Additionally, all submitted products must meet certain safety testing requirements. Review the information in this section to understand the requirements unique to these categories and for the DLC's Safety Certification Requirements.
Retrofit Kits must be tested in a DLC-approved reference housing or a manufacturer-selected housing.
Linear Replacement Lamps
Linear Replacement Lamps are required to be tested as bare lamps and when installed in a reference troffer.
Screw-Base Replacements for HID Lamps
Screw-base Replacements for HID Lamps are required to be tested in a reference fixture. The DLC will accept applications for mogul (E39) screw-base replacement products intended to replace HID lamps in these categories.
Four Pin-Base Replacement Lamps for CFLs
Four Pin-Base Replacement Lamps for CFLs are required to be tested in a reference fixture.
The testing for White-Tunable products must be provided to cover all areas of investigation as with non-color tuning family groups, plus additional testing across the color-tunable range for the least efficacious product. Warm-Dimming product applications must include a single LM-79 report performed at the maximum setting of the dimming input control.
Dimmable and Field-Adjustable Products
Dimmable and Field-Adjustable product applications must include testing to demonstrate they meet DLC requirements at full output.
DC and PoE Products
Testing for DC and PoE products must cover all areas of investigation as is required for AC family groups. All DC and PoE products must be submitted as a Family Group, regardless of the number of products submitted.
Hazardous Location Lighting
Hazardous Location Lighting safety testing must be performed by an appropriate safety organization in the US or Canada (i.e. OSHA NRTL or SCC-recognized body).
All products must be certified to the applicable safety standard by a safety certification organization relevant in the United States or Canada. (i.e. OSHA NRTL or SCC-recognized body). The scope of accreditation must include certifying lighting products. A Certificate of Compliance or Authorization to Mark must be submitted to the DLC.
