The DLC is pleased to release the second draft of Networked Lighting Controls Technical Requirements V5 (NLC5) for public comment through the stakeholder input process.

NLC5 focuses on strengthening the value of NLC technology while addressing important issues for market acceptance and accelerating the adoption and energy savings potential of networked lighting controls. This draft includes updated requirements for:

  • Cybersecurity – the practice of defending networked systems and data from malicious attacks.
  • Interoperability – a characteristic that unlocks new energy savings by connecting different systems, and includes requirements for energy monitoring – a capability that strengthens the value of NLCs for utilities and customers.
