meet the DLC Adrian Martin

As anyone who has tried to play an instrument, or even just clapped along, can attest, there is an undeniable link between music and math. From time signatures, beats per minute, circles of fifths and chord progressions, in many ways music actually is math. This connection works well for DLC Technical Analyst Adrian Martin, as she toggles between a career immersed in mathematics and hobbies ranging from singing and playing piano to musical theatre and dance.

Adrian’s work at the DLC includes conducting market research, analyzing data, and supporting software development and other technical projects. Adrian holds a BS in Physics and Mathematics from Pacific University and an MS in Green Technologies from the University of Southern California, and was drawn to the DLC by the opportunity to achieve her goal of advancing energy efficiency while doing math and science on a daily basis.

Since joining the DLC in 2021, she has enjoyed seeing how her work contributes to larger projects, makes a positive impact, and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

When not at work, Adrian spends a lot of time singing (and recording covers of) a variety of songs, especially indie music and show tunes. A former choir singer, she is also active in local theatre productions near her home in Oregon, including recent performances of Mamma Mia and a one-act play titled The Actor’s Nightmare.

Besides singing, Adrian enjoys dance (including performance), and painting.
